In the evening, watch the Dubai Fountain show on the lake below the tower before dinner at your hotel. Book Burj Khalifa tickets in advance, especially for sunset slots.

Head to historic Dubai Creek and cross by traditional wooden abra boat to the gold and spice souks of Deira. Wander the wind-tower lanes of the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood and visit a coffee house. Old Dubai is close to your hotel in Bur Dubai, and an abra crossing costs only a few dirhams.

Join an optional afternoon desert safari for dune drives across the red sands, followed by dinner under the stars at a desert camp, or spend the day relaxing at your hotel. Safaris usually include hotel pick-up. Book locally or in advance (not included).

Spend a day on the long sandy beaches of Jumeirah with views of the Burj Al Arab, or visit the Museum of the Future on Sheikh Zayed Road. Return to your hotel for a final dinner. Dress modestly away from the beach and pool, covering shoulders and knees in souks and older districts.
